Aquum | Cocktails and Greek Food in Clapham

Aquum, one of Claphams most popular bars, has re-launched as a late night drinking, dining and dancing destination in South London. The bar is based just along Clapham high street and features beautifully crafted cocktails, along with a rather eye-catching food menu.

The bar itself works nicely as a post work dining spot, before transforming into a bar later on in the evening. Designed by GMP, the chic and atmospheric interiors combine raw stone and dark leather seating with petrol blue hues and impressive light installations.

The salmon starter was delicious and fresh.

Aquum originally opened back in 2007, but the new-look venue offers a range of contemporary Greek dishes and innovative cocktails, all whilst maintaining a party vibe.

The steak came medium rare and melted in my mouth. A definite highlight of the visit.

Head Chef Anastasios Tologlou (previously at Medlar, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and Coloniales Huerta) has been appointed and created a menu that takes inspiration from his Greek roots combined with his experience from working in some of the world’s top Michelin starred restaurants.

The drinks were what you’d expect from Aquum – quality ingredients, offered a variety of elegant and fun cocktails.

The ground floor and basement will feature onyx-wrapped bars with walls lined with specialist spirits, as well as eating and drinking areas and a private events space. Upstairs, two staircases link another bar and a 75 cover restaurant and at the top of the building a smaller room is equipped with its own private bar – perfect for dinner parties and special occasions.

So if you’re looking for somewhere with a trendy vibe, and don’t mind paying a little bit more, then Aquum is the perfect spot in Clapham.
