Heist Bank, London | Pizza and beer selection
We were fortunate enough to head to Heist Bank to taste the new pizza and beer pairings on offer. Tucked away by the river, Heist Bank is just a stones throw away from Paddington Station.
The pizzas themselves are wood fired, with fresh ingredients – often taking an interesting twist on classics. This was the three mushroom, burnt butter white sauce, and tarragon pizza.
There’s no surprise that the folks at Coin Laundry are behind the venture at Heist Bank. Both bars have fantastic food and offer a really fun environment for a few drinks, including board games and a pool table.
The parma ham and pepperoni pizza was absolutely delicious, it was accompanied by a light lager from Wildman craft lager company called Wolfpack, which went together perfectly.
However the star of the show perhaps went to the lamb, preserved lemon, Brockley feta and wild rocket pizza. The lemon really came through and complimented the lamb, whilst the accompanying drink pairing topped off the experience perfectly.
The accompanying drink was a Juicebox Citrus IPA, from the team at Fourpure. It offers exactly what you’d want from a citrusy IPA, pours with a thin head and is packed with loads of flavour.
But the best combination was perhaps still to come, especially for those with a sweet tooth. I’m sure I’m not alone in having dreamed of a chocolate pizza, having pizza for main and desert… but that’s madness right? Well, thanks to Heist Bank it has become a reality.
This pizza is a chocolate peanut pizza, with raspberries and creme fraishe. It tasted almost like a crispy, deeper pancake and is the perfect side for a darker, heavier beer.
The beer that was suggested was a salted caramel stout, which was heavy and my guest absolutely loved. A little too heavy for a lager lover like myself, but it did go very well with the desert.
If you’re in the Paddington area and looking for pizza and beer, I couldn’t think of anywhere better to go.
