Triund Trek of Himachal, India

If you are going to Himachal Pradesh of India then Triund is a delightful place for you. It is a hill village cum town in the Kangra Valley of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at the foothills of the Dhauladhar mountains. Triund is known as the heart of McLeod Ganj and Dharamshala. The Trek starts from the McLeod Ganj and Dharamshala. It is one of the most famous and adventurous treks of Himachal Pradesh. It is also popular for its vegetation such as green grass, deodar, oak, pine, etc. Apart from the Sunrises and Sunsets, the nights of the Triund are so mesmerizing. You can see millions of stars from your tent.

The length of the Triund trek is nine km. It usually takes a half-day to complete the whole trek. It is a good start for beginners. There are two starting locations for the trek. The first one is Dharmakot and the other one is McLeod Ganj. One more special thing about the Triund is its accessibility throughout the year. But make share, you choose the best summer months of May, June, and September, October. In case, you are a snow lover, then winter will be good for you. The monsoon period is not right to visit due to heavy rains.

The main attractions of the Triund are:
Bhagsu falls: It is a famous waterfall of the Triund. It is the best destination for nature photographers.

Namgyal Monastery: In Himachal Pradesh, Buddhism still spreads its colours. The monastery is the home and seat of the Dalai Lama in India. Here, you can get a glimpse of Buddhist and Tibetan culture.

Other treks: Other famous treks present in the McLeod Ganj are the kareri river trek, Guna Devi temple trek, and Indrahar pass trek. McLeod Ganj is also famous as the Little Lhasa.

How to Reach:
The nearest City is Shimla, the State capital of Himachal Pradesh. Other big cities are Chandigarh and New Delhi.
